Artificial intelligence is quickly becoming one of the most transformative tools available to state and local health and human services (HHS) agencies — offering new ways to improve outcomes, reduce inequities, and better serve residents. Governments are beginning to recognize AI as a foundational capability for modernizing care delivery and proactively addressing long-standing health disparities.
This case study looks at how Illinois is using AI to reach underserved communities and accelerate more equitable, efficient service delivery. The state’s Healthy Baby initiative is a promising pilot project that can serve as a model for other states in harnessing AI and smart partnerships to move the needle on critical HHS imperatives.
