Mid-sized Cities and Counties Look for More Resources to Improve Cybersecurity

As local governments continue to accelerate their digital transformation initiatives, in large part due to the pandemic, it will be more important than ever before for them to maintain robust security strategies and capabilities. A prime target for cyberattacks, municipal governments were subject to 45 percent of ransomware attacks in the past 12 months. Cybersecurity challenges and strategies were the subject of a Center for Digital Government (CDG) survey focused specifically on mid-sized local government jurisdictions, conducted in February and March 2021. This report presents the findings of that uniquely focused, nationwide research.
