Governments have long offered online options for some payments — typically for taxes and utility bills — but constituents now expect these capabilities across a much wider range of services and programs. To meet evolving demands, governments must take a holistic approach by consolidating payment platforms and integrating them more tightly with business systems across multiple agencies or departments. This paper offers advice and recommendations for implementing this approach.
