Public Sector Market Study - 2024 Outlook for Trends in IT Service Management

Despite grappling with budget and staffing constraints, government IT teams are juggling an ever-growing number of applications, emphasizing the need for modernization. This need is further highlighted in a national survey of state and local government IT professionals conducted by the Center for Digital Government (CDG) with respondents planning to enhance automation, self-service portals, and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) adoption.

Surprisingly, only 38% of respondents have adopted ITIL, raising concerns about the effectiveness of critical IT service functions. However, 32% plan to implement ITIL in the near future. Respondents express a commitment to adopting automated workflows, software asset management, integrations, self-service portals, and other improvements. The survey underscores the importance of educating government IT leaders and partners, ensuring informed decisions and the successful integration of modern ITSM solutions.
