The global pandemic reshaped every facet of government operations, especially resident service delivery. The cloud, artificial intelligence (AI) and wireless connectivity have become even more important as state and local governments deal with new priorities such as managing hybrid work, improving service delivery, advancing digital equity and modernizing cybersecurity infrastructure. Based on the National Association of State Chief Information Officers’ (NASCIO) 2022 list of State CIO Top 10 Priorities, this paper will explore how state and local governments can not only accelerate digital transformation, but make it sustainable for the long term. From embracing open source tools for security automation to modernizing with the cloud and implementing an effective enterprise architecture strategy, here’s how state and local governments can transform themselves into more agile, data-driven and digitally enabled organizations
